Dravid, who is currently coaching the Rajasthan Royals after resigning as India’s head coach following the country’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, said that Kohli had performed admirably in the previous Test series he had coached.

Dravid’s two-match trip to South Africa, which finished in a 1-1 draw, was his last Test series as head coach of India. In their second innings,

India fell for a score of 131, while Kohli hit an impressive 76 from 82 balls. The only other Indian player to score more than ten runs in that innings was Shubman Gill, who scored 26.

“He’s been batting extremely well. I felt he was batting really well on a couple of challenging wickets when we were in South Africa a few months back.

Getting that hundred at the beginning of the series is just fantastic for him. “I believe he has the potential to have a successful series,” Dravid stated on Star Sports.
