A recent report claims that the BCCI has no immediate plans to send Mohammed Shami to Australia.
The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has not yet made a decision regarding Mohammed Shami, an Indian fast bowler who is currently healthy and competing for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, so the BCCI is not in a rush to send the pacer to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Test series.

After suffering an ankle injury during last year’s 2023 ODI World Cup final, Shami was out for precisely a year. He just played his first competitive match after the injury in a Ranji Trophy match for Bengal earlier this month, taking five wickets against Madhya Pradesh in Indore, after undergoing surgery in February of this year.

The board chose not to hasten the senior fast bowler’s return to international play, despite experts’ calls for the BCCI to send Shami to Australia right away. Shami is not part of BCCI’s plans to visit Australia, according to a Times of India story.
“At least for the time being, there hasn’t been any discussion about sending Shami to Australia. According to a Board source, the fast bowlers selected for the tour and the starting lineup in the first Test match in Perth are currently performing admirably.
In order to bolster his chances of making a comeback in the Australia Test series, Shami was selected for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he took three wickets.

After being bowled out for just 150 on the first day, India did exhibit similar worries, but the bowlers rallied the squad with a five-wicket haul from stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah. KL Rahul and centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched a record 201-run partnership after India took a slim 46-run lead. Later, as India gave Australia a massive goal of 534, Virat Kohli also struck a century, his first in 16 months. India grabbed a 1-0 lead in the five-Test series when the bowlers once again stepped up to the plate and folded Australia for only 238.
