BCCI Takes Major Step to Address Champions Trophy Dispute with Pakistan

According to a source, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is expected to communicate with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and meet with ICC officials in an attempt to end the Champions Trophy impasse.

To end the impasse over the Champions Trophy, Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah is expected to talk with Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and meet with representatives of the International Cricket Council (ICC), according to ARY News.

While PCB has been steadfast in their refusal to adopt a “hybrid” format, India has made it plain that they would not be traveling to Pakistan for the event.

The article claims that Jay Shah would meet with ICC officials in Dubai and then speak with Naqvi over the phone in an attempt to find a potential solution to the problem.

Even if there is still ambiguity surrounding the Champions Trophy’s organization for early next year, the Pakistan Cricket Board earlier on Thursday named Sumair Ahmad Syed as its chief operations officer.

Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the PCB, reaffirmed the board’s intention to hold the event solely in Pakistan in a statement released by the organization.

The international governing body has communicated to the PCB that the Board of Control for Cricket in India had previously told the International Cricket Council that it was not interested in sending the Indian squad to Pakistan for the 50-overs tournament.

In the meanwhile, Naqvi praised Syed as a “exceptionally organized professional” and voiced trust in his skills.

“Sumair has much administrative experience and is a very well-organized professional. In addition to his everlasting love for cricket, I have no doubt that he will give players, officials, and spectators alike an ICC Champions Trophy 2025 they won’t soon forget,” he stated.

“The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is expected to demonstrate Pakistan’s capacity to host top-tier cricket competitions, bringing players and spectators from all over the world to experience the nation’s legendary hospitality and love for the game.” “With stadium improvements almost finished and important talks with the International Cricket Council still going on, preparations are already well underway,” Syed said.
